And....we're back

Hello all,

After my post in November my daughter dropped my computer off the table and broke it. We had ordered a new one from Sam's Club online during black Friday deals. I got the confirmation that the computer had shipped but it never came. Come to find out they never handed it over to FedEx and they didn't have those computers in stock anymore. Soooo.... I finally got them to give me a refund and I ordered a new HP directly from HP. So now I have a nice new computer. I just have to get used to Windows 10 which I'm not real thrilled with. Well any who enough of my computer sob story and on to once again getting you caught up with our goings on.

NOVEMBER

Progress on the fodder house was coming along nicely.

Butchering the Pigs

WARNING GRAPHIC PHOTOS

The pigs came to a fast and humane end. One well placed shot to the head while enjoying a nice long drink of warm milk water. I was so thankful that it went so smoothly.

Our set up for de-hairing and gutting.
We had a couple of warming fires because it was a very cold day.

Our amazing neighbors came over and helped with the de-hairing and gutting.

A pan of mixed organ meats and fat. This was Soooooo Yummy!
I never knew how delicious pig heart is. It was by far my favorite.

Now Back to work.

That about gets us to were we are now.

Spring is starting to come to mind in a big way and we're starting to prepare.  We've ordered seeds, bees, and meat chickens (100 this year) and we have eggs in the incubator due to hatch on the 20th. Baby goats are due in May. Even a planter of lettuce starting to grow in the windowsill. It's going to be another busy busy summer.

We are still looking for a wwoofer to come and work the farmstead with us this summer. If you are interested check us out on the wwoofusa web site.

Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in what soever state I am, therewith to be content. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which stengtheneth me.  Philippians 4:11-13
